On 27th June the Friends of Abingdon Civic Society and the Abingdon Abbey Buildings Trust celebrated 80 years since the foundation of the original Society. The Buildings were open to the public in the afternoon, with exhibitions both about the Friends’ history and achievements and the future plans for both Societies. In the evening there was an event for invited members of the local community and for those previously active in the Friends. There were presentations from both Societies and congratulatory speeches from the Mayor and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant. Both events were enjoyable and well attended.
