Abingdon High Street in 1963
In 1963 an unknown photographer took a series of photographs of both sides of Abingdon High Street. The pictures were taken for the Street Amenity Improvement Scheme – a joint initiative of the Town Council and the Chamber of Trade.
As a result we can now talk a walk through the Abingdon of 60 years ago, along the south side of the Street from the Market Place to the Square, and then back along the north side. Have a look and see what has changed!
