Heritage Open Days – September 2021
Abingdon loves to celebrate its rich and very visible heritage. Every year in September we join in with the national Heritage Open Days programme which runs across the country (and abroad) and offers a diverse and entertaining range of ways to learn more about our past.
The national theme chosen for this year’s event is Edible England so we will be highlighting food and drink and how it was grown, delivered, prepared and consumed at various times in Abingdon’s history.
Events will be held in the Market Place, Guildhall, Abbey Buildings, St Nicolas’ Church, the Museum and St Ethelwolds House and other places around town.
The main events will be on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September, but there will be special events in the Museum from Saturday 11th and an exhibition in St Nicolas Church from Thursday 16th. For the full programme see https://www.abingdonheritage.org.uk/
